The remit
Four strands of work sit under the department. Between them they keep the money accounted for, the diocese legally sound, the buildings standing, and the goods moving.
Across the diocese
Pastoral, Education and Health
The department coordinates the other three departments of the diocese, all of which are seated with it in Nairobi.
Its task is the overall coordination of every administrative, financial and logistic activity of the diocese, in support of the Bishop.
Money
Nairobi and Rumbek
In charge of all issues involving finance.
The department supervises every financial transaction of the diocese and oversees its income-generating activities, alongside the fund-raising on which the work of the other three departments depends.

The department consults the Ordinary of the diocese and other diocesan staff on administrative and legal questions.

Bethany House and the diocesan properties
It ensures the maintenance of the diocesan facilities, and keeps the contacts with key donors and other guests of the diocese.
Bethany House was acquired in 1994 by the late Bishop Caesar Mazzolari. It serves both as the administrative headquarters of the diocese and as a house in which the religious congregations working in Rumbek may find peace and reflection.
Logistics
The lack of infrastructure in South Sudan, the long distances within the diocese and the difficulty of sourcing goods there demand real logistical knowledge — for purchase, shipment, the clearing of goods and the transport of people.
Logistics is organised by two officers: senior logistician Mr Barnabas Kipkoech, based in Nairobi, and field logistician Mr Abednego Marol, in Rumbek.
Most of what the diocese uses cannot be bought in South Sudan at all. What they move runs from food in times of famine to educational materials for the schools, medical supplies for the hospital and health facilities, and technical equipment for the computer training programmes and the radio stations.
